I was in the hospital the other night and I could overhear they guy in the next room talking to his mom on the phone. He was telling her that his girlfriend brought him to the emergency room cause he had eight mini-seizures though-out the day. He told his mom to call his boss and say that he twisted his ankle or something. He said if his boss finds out he has seizures that he would fire him. It turns out this guy is a delivery driver for Pep-Boys. I know people that have seizures are not allowed to drive at all. He said he can sort of feel them coming on and just pulls over. I'm afraid he's going to have a bad one, run a red light, and kill someone. I know he works at the Pep-Boys by my house so there is a chance the person he kills could be me or my family. Should I contact hiss boss somehow and tell him what I know?

Honestly I have no idea if you should. I would just let them be. You doing that could ruin his career-life. I would confront him in person and tell him what you're thinking and just have a general conversation about it.

Depends how bad the seizures are ... no point snitch in on a working man who obviously likes what he does... just talk to the fella as the job he's got is probley all he's got.

This is a very tough dilemma. I think I would assure the dude still has income after he gets his drivers position revoked.

i.e. does something in the company that isn't a threat to harm others if he has a seizure.

As others have said try to talk to the guy first. I myself have had seizures, I'm still perfectly fine to drive though due to the types I've had. I've only had nocturnal seizures so nothing that will affect my ability to drive, I also haven't had any in around 10 years. His is definitely different though. If anything, he could get a different job within the company where he could take alternative transportation to.

I'd make sure that he would still be able to cover the bills or have some sort of income still after being fired

But it's a very tough one!

Personally Id stay out of it because I dont know all the details but its more of a moral decision if youre not comfortable letting someone like that remain on the street then do what you feel is right

That is really tough because I can see both sides to this. If you contact his boss then he could possibly lose the job and he could currently be in financial trouble.. But on the other hand he could seriously injure someone or possibly kill someone is he had a seizure while driving.

Like Ethan said, the company could possibly find another job for him within the company.

Also, his boss might require a doctors note if he is going to be missing a shift and a doctor wouldn't lie on the note. The doctor would state the real reason he was in the hospital missing working. The doctor could be held liable if caught lying and the man had a seizure during a work shift.

I wouldn't report it directly to the employer, that's kind of a dick move as he may or may not get fired, but nothing will happen. Of course it's a public safety issue, so the best way to go about it would be to get his name and report it to the DMV or local police and they can deal with it from there.

That way his license will get suspended, he'll lose his current job position, but he might be able to get a different job at the same place.

I would let Pep-Boys know what is going on. They may not even fire him, just move him to a different position. Telling them would do a lot more good than bad. You could save his life and others lives aswell
