Okay help us out a little here, are you going for two monitors? Or just a single on a wider screen?

If dual, then two different ports on the GPU/Onboard if you can. And for single, just go into your graphic properties and detect, usually it will auto adjust it.

I'm trying to just have a second bigger screen for when I watch movies or tv shows, it's now only displaying on my tv and not on my monitor I've tried going into display settings and detecting it but it couldn't find it.

It's possible that you could have it set to expand your desktop instead of copying it. If you set it to expand, it just means you can take something from your computer side, and drag it all the way off the screen to the right and then it'll show on the TV as if it dragged in from the left, but you have to set it to "project" to your TV if that makes sense.

Like for those who do tri-monitor setups, their middle monitor is always the main, and then they expand to the left and right so that way if I want something on the left screen, I'd drag it from the middle all the way to the left and then it'd come into view on the left one. That's how they set that up so it's not just the same exact thing on all 3 screens, which would be pointless int hat case.

So you just have to set it to project to the TV instead of using the TV as a screen expansion

If you're reference dual monitors, you're already set to extend, just clicking display res should tell you. If anything that doesn't seem to be full res, you should be able to up it to the TV's max.

Step 1.

Right click on your desktop > display settings
Click on the "Multiple Displays" drop down > Extend these displays

Step 2.

Advanced display settings
Click on your TV display
