I don't do this anymore, but I used to chew on metal when my wisdom teeth were coming through because at the angle they were pushing through, was causing pain along my inner jaw. Chewing on the metal actually helped straighten them out just enough where I wasn't having those pains. Only problem was it didn't matter the metal object. Screws, bolts, paper clips, ect, hell even razor blades a few times; which obviously ended up bad lol
