I unfortunately lost my phone about a month ago and I am still in need of a new one. I am pretty sick of iPhones and have been looking at Samsungs, I stumbled across the new A5 and it seems pretty impressive. I am aware that it is not a top tier phone but it's specifications are pretty impressive for it's price. I have watched speed tests on youtube, although the results are slightly inaccurate the phone is not far off from being as fast as an iPhone 6 or a Samsung S7. I would just like to hear what your opinions are.

It is not better, and in my opinion since you asked me. It is not worth it, the S7 has better specs, higher core clocks, a better GPU, more ram and better storage possibilities. The screen is better, as well as the camera is.

If you could get the S7 go for it, but if you're on a budget just get the A5, I wouldn't recommend it as it isn't that well made especially for 2017.

The j3 was a good phone, at the time it was great the j7 is where it is at now and i still recommend it over the s7, not for many reasons other than quality, sure it isn't nearly as good as the s7 but it is a good phone.

I know it isn't as good as the S7 but I'm not really comparing it specification wise. But for the money it seems like quite a good phone, what would you recommend for a budget of around £350?

Honestly i am looking to help you save money, and get a semi decent quality. If you are willing to wait and up your budget some, the droid turbo two is a great phone for that price, and lives up to what the ads and reviews say.

another good phone in the 360 range would be the htc one m9.

These are just my opinions. If you wanted to burn that hole in your wallet for 440+ you could get a oneplus 3/3t or a s7.

But for the 200-370 range the turbo two, htc one m9, and the htc a9s, are all great phones in that range.

I don't think you should get it. Instead of buying this phone new, instead use that money to buy a top tier one used off Craig's list or the Facebook marketplace. There are some pretty good deals on there

We've just had the new A range in our shop recently (A5 and A3 2017) and I have to say they're great phones. The price of the A5 is a little steep in my opinion because you can easily get hold of an S7 for just a little extra. The one good thing about the A5 though is the 16MP front-facing camera.

Very solid and responsive phone and I read above that someone has said the new A5 isn't great for a 2017 release and that it is a phone if you're on a budget. None of these are true, the price is near flagship costs and it's a fantastic phone for a 2017 release, just not quite flagship.

As said above though, if you can spend the extra and get the S7, go for it.

The A5 has barely lower specs then some of its competitors. It is a tad low on the spec sheet for the price. Hence why i said the J series of models. It is and isn't a good choice for 2017, because within a year model creators noticed that 2GB ram could easily go to 4 and 6. Some phones featuring the Snapdragon 820, can easily adjust with 6GB, and are about $100 more.

The A5 is considered a budget phone, it should be lower price it is a bit extensive for what it is but as you said that front camera is a surprise not seen in most phones at this point. Me and you have different thoughts on phones, just like the pixel and the i7, so no need to argue as we can point this out early.

We both have hands on with the phones which is good. I still prefer the J series for the prices since they are dropping. The only reason i like samsung is they implement STUNNING cameras for the price across most of their lineups.
