Pokmon Go is getting a whole lot bigger very soon. Today developer Niantic announced that 80 new pocket monsters are coming to the mobile game later this week. The new recruits will be culled from the Johto region from Pokmon Gold and Silver, and will include the likes of Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Unlike previous additions like Pichu and Togepi, players will be able to encounter the new pokmon in the wild, instead of just hatching them from eggs.

The update will cover more than new creatures to collect. Pokmon Go will also be getting what developer Niantic describes as new encounter gameplay, as well as two new types of berries including one that slows down opponents and additional outfit options to deck out trainers. There are also new evolution items that can be used to evolve the new additions to the game.

Additional Pokmon: More than 80 Pokmon that were originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokmon Gold and Pokmon Silver video games, as well as Pokmon with gender-specific variations, will start rolling out in Pokmon GO.

New Evolutions: There are now more opportunities to evolve your Pokmon in Pokmon GO than ever before. Some Pokmon originally discovered in the Kanto region will soon be able to evolveinto Pokmon that inhabit the Johto region! Be on the lookout for new Evolution items at PokStops, which youll need to evolve some Pokmon.

New Encounter Gameplay: When you encounter Pokmon in the wild, dont be surprised if they react in new ways as youre trying to catch them. Youll also notice the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Pok Balls directly from the encounter screen. Hone your skills and catch those elusive Pokmon!

New Berries: Pokmon enjoy eating Berries, and youll have the opportunity to get two new Berries by spinning the Photo Disc at PokStopsNanab Berries and Pinap Berries! Giving a Pokmon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy youll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.

New Avatars and an Expanded Wardrobe: Now youll be able to give your avatar a complete upgrade! Customize your look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.
