So if I back up my iPhone 5 on pc does that mean I can transfer everything on my new iPhone 6

You could try an iCloud backup too, providing you have more than 5GB storage available.

Should work fine, I updated from a 5 to a 6 a couple years ago and it worked with no problems, just make sure you give it enough time to complete each process

Thanks for the feed back Jord , also yeah weird thing is I tried to back up from iCloud but everytime I tried to back up from on my phone it stopped
But it's working on pc ATM so going to do it that way
