Personally I've become extremely disappointed with the AI, but I'm only speaking from my experience in the Open Beta. Complete lack of function without player input, most of the time the only thing your squad is good for is a fully upgraded sync shot / strategic "hold position" and "open fire" for multiple-front assault. They can't even drive or pilot.
