Not really dude. I drive one everyday. Got an ugly jeep renegade. I keep my hand on it 25/7

I think the idea is that when you rest your hand on the shifter, it puts pressure on the gears or something like if you were to try and shift without using the clutch. I'm probably wrong but I think that's what he meant.

If you have your hand on the shifter keeping it still while the car is in gear it will be slowly rubbing. The shift forks are made to work with the clutch when upshifting and down shifting. I'm not saying that it's going to cause a major wreck or anything crazy. It could just potentially lead to your shift forks being worn down.

Yes, Semi-Auto can be fully auto or manual with the flappy paddles.

I'd drive an automatic if I had something that prevented me driving a manual

Only bad if you have a heavy hand and are applying enough pressure to rub while in gear.

Or moving your shifter around while in gear making it rub.

I do neither so I'm fine.

I felt this same way driving my moms car last night. It honestly just felt wierd and uncomfortable to drive even though its a 2017. Guess im just used to my manual mustang
