NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. Three of these planets are firmly located in the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water.

The discovery sets a new record for greatest number of habitable-zone planets found around a single star outside our solar system. All of these seven planets could have liquid water key to life as we know it under the right atmospheric conditions, but the chances are highest with the three in the habitable zone.

This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life, said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the agencys Science Mission Directorate in Washington. Answering the question are we alone is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.

This is very interesting but also scary because over the years people like messed up earth and the thought of these possibly becoming the same is scary but also interesting to see

I wish I was born in a more advanced life time to witness if people actually could go live somewhere else or discover other life forms.

They have said 3 of the 7 planets are likely to contain liquid water on the surface, and within a decade determine whether or not life exists on these planets

They are only 40 Lightyears away as well, not massively far in the grand scheme of things

I agree with you but I don't think it will be in our lifetime it said it souls take years in order to get to those planets and that a not counting the build time and scoping the places out etc it will probably be a white till it happens
