Edit: I didn't intend on this thread to become a cry to be accepted in the shoutbox for new members, just stating some of the experiences I've had (Some / most of which were from 3-5 years ago). I understand that the shoutbox has probably changed a bunch, but I tried stirring conversation recently and had the same result.

I'm not sure how many people that can relate to my side of this rant will even be around to read this, and I honestly might even forget to check the responses to my rant due to the fact that I no longer come on to this site on a daily basis.

When I joined TTG back in 2011 I joined for modded lobbies in Mw2 and Cod 4. I quickly realized that there were more forums other than "Mw2 Modded Lobbies" & "Cod 4 Modded Lobbies", finding many people I could relate with in the shoutbox, general discussion and also xbox general discussion forums. There were always the spammers who posted useless things in the general discussion forum, or the milestone forum, but I'm actually pretty bummed out to see people still doing it 5 years later. For example, I sign in and check out the milestone forum, only to see the same guy has responded to every milestone thread saying "Congratulations, see you at *Insert next milestone here*". The thing that irks me about this, is that I see he's actually pretty popular around here. This is where my point comes in, I miss the days on TTG where the chill people would associate. For me there's not that "chill" group around anymore. You got your shoutbox guys who honestly aren't too friendly to any new people that join. You have your spammers who just want their post count higher, barely even reading what you're saying in your posts.

Anyways I'm running out of stuff to say honestly, if anyone used to talk to me (My old username was Lugia) on here, feel free to write on my wall or something and I'll try to catch up with you.

yeah it's always been that way, but I guess I'm just kinda surprised / let down that no one there ever could get everyone together and be a little more welcoming to the newer guys trying to enjoy all the features of the site.

I see your point I do think its important that new members get a welcome but when its low effort it kinda makes it feel like they don't really care it's about post count.

There is hope look up 13 and 002 two guys both with numbers as their username both post very HQ

Every new member in the shoutbox i say hi and always try my best to have a conversation unless I'm busy with something and I'm not available to talk (usually pet stuff)

Maybe if there were no badges related to post count you wouldn't have as many spammers. But a lot of members spammed when they first joined a forum. It's about being able to turn low quality members into high quality members.

If you want to see some real spam, look at the front page news section. about 90% of the comments are the same as the one before it. Very little discussion on the news.

If there is a post about playstation people either say "I don't have a playstation but this is good" or "this is good, glad they are adding this feature".

I wish the mods would remove comments like that.
