I don't see the community bad in this way so much as I see new(er) people trying to fit in. Albeit there are the people who care about their post count and post useless stuff to get it up, but honestly I think that's half the reason that the milestones forum was created lol.

I can't really speak on the shoutbox issue as I only go in there once in a blue moon, but I have seen exactly what you're talking about on the general discussion forum every now and again. Sure, it's terrible that the "old timers" are pissing on the new comers for no reason like they are somehow inferior to one another because of what ever reason but sometimes you get it. Usually it stems from personal problems though, you never know what's going on in someones life based on a conversation over the internet but usually when people go on the "I'm better than you" tirade it's because of home issues and they need to feel bigger than the next person. I do think people like that also inadvertently cause the need to have a higher post count as somehow having a high post count gains respect to them. To me the time you've been around says more than the post count, but neither can really judge you in my opinion.

TTG is going through, and has been going through a major change for a while. I used to be the leecher around here back in the CoD4 days looking for modded lobbies, so I have a little experience with the older community, however I didn't really become a part of the community until late 2015 into 2016. I was posting, but I never got to know anyone. One of the biggest differences between 2011 TTG and 2017 TTG is that back in 2011 TTG still meant Teen Titans Go. No, but on a serious note, TTG was like the star sports team, always on the top of the leaderboards on CoD games, always having the whole community rival with other "teams" or communities like se7en sins, and always winning. I haven't been on CoD in a while, but remember when you used to get on and see the top of the leader board filled with TTG usernames? Today, TTG is still that star sports team, we're just headed in a different direction I think. Although we are still primarily a gaming community, we help each other out with personal problems, we help each other out with home work, we help each other out with automotive issues, etc. etc. We are becoming a tighter community than we were back in 2011, and although TTG seems to be taking a new direction (caused really by crap games coming out), we're still doing pretty good.

I think it's important to look past the new guys that spam to get their post count up for the first week then quit, I think it's important to look past the people that just spam in the milestones forum to get their post count up, and I think it's important to look past the trolls. Look at the topics in just the last 5 pages of the off topic discussion. You'll see many key users posting, and the majority of us are great people that got past the stage of post count whoring. TTG is a wonderful community and along with that comes some less than quality people, but there are more good than bad people in this community and that's what makes us us!

Daytona wrote You have your spammers who just want their post count higher, barely even reading what you're saying in your posts.

I post a lot / spam. Whatever you wanna call it.
But I actually read the entire post and try to give the best feedback I can.
I do agree with you, the milestone forum is a goldmine but I try to say something different on each post.
Not really sure why I still post much, I just seen the top 5 posters with rainbow and it looked pretty cool to have it.
I guess it's just routine now for me to come on everyday and post.

At the end of the day though it's just a website and everyone is doing their own thing. To each their own.

Sean wrote I see your point I do think its important that new members get a welcome but when its low effort it kinda makes it feel like they don't really care it's about post count.

There is hope look up 13 and 002 two guys both with numbers as their username both post very HQ

002 is one of the best!

I agree with the OP though, it doesn't feel the same. I think it's partially because of the 20 character removal, asking for rep rule removal and a couple of other things that has changed the community but hey, it's not a blazing inferno and I still enjoy coming on here sometimes.

Agreed. Would also love to see actual conversations within the news articles rather than the bullshit "Looks good but Im not gonna get it" and "Im still gonna get a PS4" on a Xbox post vice versa...There's much more spam that really annoys me. Makes me wonder do people actually read any of the articles or just go post there for the sake of it.

Most of the shoutbox are welcoming you just join at the wrong times. Majority of TTG joined for the modded lobbies, We'll all admit that. But modding is dying off so we can't stay in that era for long. We have to move on. I know i wasn't around back then, but TTG is becoming more of a community now rather than just a "known modding site". Which is better for everyone. As for the spamming milestones etc. As long as the user doesn't simply copy and paste the reply then it isn't really considered spamming. Same with the introduce yourself. I spend pretty much all my time in the shoutbox or IM.

Hey, I agree the community has not changed in some aspects, but it has also changed for the better! TheTechGame has gained a lot of great members over the years that I can truly call friends.

I made a post in the Rant section almost a year ago about a similar problem that I really didn't enjoy. I recommend reading it and then taking a look at the picture.
