So I was installing some mods for a game on my PC and I stupidly got some sketchy stuff on my PC. I ran all kinds of virus scans and it said that it was getting rid of the malware(used Windows Defender).

I usually never get anything bad like this on my computer but this time I messed up. Please somebody help me. I really don't want to clear my hard drive and resinstall windows.

Here is a picture of the error message that pops up every minute or so.

Download - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . Run a full scan, that should clear out any harmful stuff for you.

If not, run a live linux distro via USB, plug the HDD into an external adapter, copy your docs over that you need to another spare drive then nuke the infected drive & reinstall the OS. You then have your docs on the other drive.

There is some info on google about obol.dll. It says its part of a program called LockerSync from MP3tunes. Maybe if you can kill obol process in the task manager and then delete that .dll file.

Recommend you just run Malwarebytes right now and leave it running overnight. Shouldn't take too long, it'll depend on the size of your drive. If you have multiple ones make sure you scan them all, not just your C drive.

You on Windows 10?

Roll back to a earlier snapshot. Or just restore Windows from PC Settings.

Windows writes over the original files with clean ones and at the same time keeps all your documents. This will rule out infected/corrupt DLL files.

If the problem still persists after the roll back you know something is wrong like a said virus.

Regards
