Walking - Used to like it but I live in the middle of the town now so it's meh plus I live in a sort of dodgy area.

Game development can be overwhelming. Try using something like Codecademy, or teamtreehouse. They walk you though how to make small programs/games that are fairly easy to make.
Then once you get familiar with a language you can work on bigger projects.
