I'm very new to the whole pc thing in general. But I have a 2012 macbook pro and I know it has a shitty graphics card. Could I get an eGPU and connect it to my macbook via the thunderport and have it use a higher end graphics card?

In order to actually play games on my mac. I have windows 10 running in bootcamp, and if I get a better graphics card ill be able to play games that require an extensively better one that the one I currently have.

eGPU would never reach full bandwidth. Jay, and Linus both covered this topic very well. You're getting less then half of the bandwidth of a PCIe lane.. Don't waste your money on a dock, as well as the GPU so you aren't wasting nearly as much as you did for the mac.

No do not do this. It will be a waste of money and in a year or so you will most defintely wish you just went with a better laptop(even like a razer stealth) or just built a pc.

Dont do it.

With the amount it would cost you to get an external GPU dock and GPU and a decent monitor, youd be better off just building a system for gaming.
