I currently pay $250+ for internet and TV. My speeds are trash for what I'm paying for and I even upgraded my router and still nothing. I pay for 100Mbps but my speeds range from 30-45Mbps download and ~5Mbps.
Anybody have any tips on what I can do? This is the only provider that is around for my location so changing providers is not an option.
Thanks

Have you tried changing out routers and modems? I had the same issue with my internet provider when i 1st got them. I switched out my router and modem for gaming ones i purchased and saw a major increase. Plus if you are renting your router/modem, you can return them and get some money off your bill a month.

Yeah I changed my router to this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and my modem is some rental one. I told my dad to change the modem because I figured that was the problem.

hook laptop up to modem and do a ping test(CMD>ping google.com -t), if its still slow its either your modem or you need to call your ISP. If its better than its either your router (perform same test) if not then something with the wifi signal.
this can find problems but wont give download speed or anything I should note, if ping from router and modem is the same its working fine your ISP is just boning you.

I think the modem is the problem, I spoke to my dad and it's a rental from the provider.

He said this is the second one he's gotten from them, not sure if it's a rental or just provided by the ISP.

Do you live in rural parts of Ohio? Can you break down how much it is for each service you have from your ISP.
