gosolo wrote If anyone disagrees with trumps decision to air strike the airfield that fired the chemical weapons that was used against the Syrian people and mostly children, I want you to go to CNN and look at the photos of the children that died and more that suffered from this Syrian attack and not just children, Syrian civilians are also among the dead and injured! Familys also are affected by the loose of loved ones! I agree with trumps decision because the Syrian civil war has spanned more than 4 years claiming more than 400,000 lives and millions more fleeding their homes due to the war! Yes Russian personal were at the airfield and were part of the casualtys of the US air strikes but reports read that they were warned of the imminent attack! US also has to wait and see how Russia responds to the airstrikes but the Syrian chemical attack on its own people was ruthless and something needs to be done about Assad before more harm is done!

Where is the source stating there were Russian casualties on the airstrike in Syria? That is something I would have found out by now and there isn't a single word about it news wise or when talking with a few people who are actually more informed with regards to that. I've only seen and been told about Russians on the base being warned of the strike, nothing further.

There's literally no evidence it was Assad so based off that yeah I disagree when you start attacking a country with no evidence, if only there was examples in the past we could look back on. He was winning against the rebels but suddenly decided to gas his own people, an action he'd have nothing to gain from and everything to lose, makes sense.

The sooner you realize msm don't give a shit about civilians the better. Saudi's slaughtering Yemeni civilians, blowing up hospitals with US/UK bombs on purpose gets next to no coverage because they're the Wests ally and Syria isn't.

No where in the article does it say there were Russian casualties only that there were Russians on the base and were informed about the attack.

There were Russians at the base that the US struck Thursday night, a US defense official. It was not said what the Russians' role was at the base. In addition, according to the official, the US had multiple conversations with the Russians today to warn them of the coming attack.

Everyone has already seen the photos of what's happened and they still made their opinions on the fact, preaching about it won't really change much anyways, you can't just undo a missile strike lol People will be for the strike and others against it, just like how it is with any attack or any war.

Update: Bolivia and Russia will call for a UNSC meeting; Moscow might stop working with the US in Syria after missile strike.

03:55 GMT

Bolivia has requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting to be held behind closed doors on Friday to discuss the US missile attack against Syria, a senior Security Council diplomat told Reuters.

04:30 GMT

The US attack on Syria is an act of aggression against a UN member, the chair of the Russian Senates security and defense committee, Viktor Ozerov, told RIA Novosti. He added that Moscow would call an emergency UN Security Council meeting to discuss the situation.

Also apparently Tillerson stated Washington didn't contact Russia before the strike happened, so we'll see what comes out of that if that's true since there are conflicting reports on whether or not Russia was given a heads up.

03:48 GMT

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that Washington did not contact the Russian leadership or any other level within Russian infrastructure before conducting the airstrike on the Syrian base.

No contacts were made with Moscow, with President Putin, Tillerson told reporters at Mar-a-Lago.

I might be wrong, but I find it quite hypocritical how throughout the presidential campaign season Hillary was talking about setting up a no-fly zone over Syria and shooting down Russian jets if they violated that airspace. She was rightly called crazy and told that this would almost certainly lead to a war with Russia if it were implemented by Trump supporters.

She used the history of the conflict in that area and the previous use of chemical weapons as reasons to set up this no-fly zone.

But now that Trump has decided to fire missiles at Syria to protect Syrian civilians from chemical attacks, an obvious and overt provocation against Russia, the history of the conflict in that area and previous chemical attacks are fair game to justify an action like this and his supporters are the first ones to point out how great and bold this move was.

Could you guys make up your mind? Do you want war with Russia or not, or is it only alright if Trump is the one to get the ball rolling?

You should read a book by a psychologist called Paul Bloom. The book is called 'Against Empathy, The Case For Rational Compassion.'
It has some interesting things to say about how we react to images on the news of tragedies.

For example, a journalist sat down with a warlord in Africa and asked them why they chop off the limbs of children. The warlord replied saying that the more grotesque the imagery the more outraged people in western nations become. If there is more outrage then there is more foreign aid brought into the country, foreign aid which they can then tax.

The point is that the best decisions are made through rational compassion. Choosing to do what is best for people based on possible future outcomes, rather than past atrocities.

Do you remember not too long ago the picture of that little boy, Alan Kurdi, washed up dead on a beach in Turkey. That picture ignited a firestorm in the media and swayed public opinion in favor of allowing refugees into Europe. One picture did that.

There were plenty of other dead children washing up on beaches before that. There were plenty of other pictures like that one circling the internet before that one. But there was something about that picture, the way it was taken and maybe the fact that the boy was face down, faceless, and could have been any little boy which made people take notice of it.

Pictures of dead people are not good reasons to act.
