To be honest man phones are useless. I have an iPhone and I don't use it at all.

It's business. They know everyone uses cell phones daily and they know people will pay for the phone, regardless of the price.
Why not?

We sell phones, brilliant phones for under 100 in our shop. They are expensive, but so is the hardware and software used inside the phones. Like one of the users above said, profit is a huge part also..

Just thought I'd rant about how dear phones cost, honestly its a joke. For me to purchase a new phone it will cost me at least £250-£700 which in my point of view is an absolute disgrace.

I think everyone seems to be missing the point, yes a phone is pricey, they know people want/need them for everyday essentials, I personally NEED a phone to ensure if anything were to happen to someone, I would have that info sent to me directly and I'd know - instead of waiting for my telegraph to come in... But I feel your pain when it comes to having a damaged phone screen as my Galaxy S6 Edge+ I've had for a year and some change, got crushed under my car seat when my ex sat on the seat. 350$ they want for a screen replacement and the pixel replacement. Or 200$ for a warranty claim... I have resorted to buying a lesser common brand of phone like Asus where I get the same power for a fraction of the price. If anything happens to it, just buy a new one.

You also gotta think of the overhead & etc. and not just the cost. You have to pay the people who design & create the tech, marketing, patents. Etc, etc. it is expensive but there's a simple solution, dont buy it

I get what you mean, but Apple makes so much money, in my opinion they could maybe cut down prices a bit.

You don't even need a fancy phone. Besides androids are relatively cheap compared to the Apple iPhone line.
