Windows defender is pretty good, although my computer has been comprimised once since I bought it (around October) I would recommend keeping any antivirus you may already have because it's better to be ready than not. Although windows defender does pickup when something is wrong relatively quickly and of course if you know how to find out if something is safe or not before downloading then that'll benefit you as well.

I have AVG, Defender and Malware Bytes. I don't think my defender is turned on properly because never comes up with anything , I'm on windows 10. I often try my luck too much downloading stuff which may not be safe so that's why I kept AVG.

I know but i've been told Windows defender is all you need as long as you're careful downloading stuff haha. I think ill just get malwarebytes thats it :p
thanks
This is not true. Windows Defender has been shown several times in benchmarks to not be that great at detecting threats, compared to other free anti-virus software such as Avast.
MalwareBytes Free is a very good choice if you need an on-demand scanner, real-time and automated scanning is I think only available in the premium version which costs £29.99 a year for 1 PC.

I guess it all boils down to common sense, in the end.
No anti-malware solution is going to protect somebody who will click on absolutely anything, and doesn't regularly check that everything on their computer is up-to-date, so as to prevent the last exploits from infecting the computer. ^^

Windows defender is suppose to automatically disable itself when another antivirus is installed.
But I personally use malware bytes and Windows defender. Have not purchased or used anything else since 2012 and have only gotten 1 virus and that was my own fault. I would say Windows Defender is pretty decent to use. Keep your pc updates so it can always stay up to date as well with updates.
