Thats the other thing I brought to my wife. I spent way to much money on my firearms. I have 23 of them and not one besides my two Glocks would be California compliant

But hell yeah brother.

The job may have good pay but money only brings you short term happiness, you and your family is where the happiness is at man and if you relocate to a place you don't want to be anywhere near it's going to drain your positivity man. It's all up to you of course but that's my opinion.

California is nice to visit, but past a week it's not a fun place lol.

Where abouts in California would you have to relocate? Just about anywhere South of San Francisco is expensive. Your pay might go up but so will your cost of living.

All in all if you like your current position and you make enough money to live comfortably, why change positions?

I have studied criminal justice and have talked to many federal LEOs and they all say the same thing. If you have a family and want to settle down, stay with local LE. otherwise choose the Feds if you have the choice. Just know, if you take the job in Cali, that does not mean you will be there 5 years from now. Federal Agencies are always moving agents and officers to fit needs of other places.

Yeah but as a fellow gun owner and as a service member, Cali is horrible. Your passion for guns will stay but the right is taken in a sense which I am sure you are aware of. On top of that many things in Cali are different "words hurt" some of the worst people I have met while serving in the armed forces is Cali people you could say a positive thing and it still "hurt"

True but if OP knows that the move could open up more doors and possibilities down the road for him then why not?
I've only been to Monterey and San Fran when I went to Cali and I loved Monterey, I'm actually thinking about moving there.
But I guess it really depends where in Cali OP will be staying.

Sure, more doors could open for him but also at what cost? A door opened for him in his current job and living matter, another one could easily open up down the road that would favour him better while in his current situation. California is full of snowflakes who look for a reason to be offended, just as Breweerr said, you could tell some random stranger they look nice today and still get your shit pushed in just because you spoke to that person. If OP has temperament problems or is just annoyed with those people, it's best he avoids them, just like I do. California is such a cuck state when it comes to guns. He stated he had over 20 guns, he would have to give up most of those guns or have them modified to fit California's standards, which I would assume would also come out of his pocket and once it reaches that far; what's the point of having an AR-15 that is stuck to 10 bullets and needs a damn tool to remove the magazine, hell his handguns will also be subjugated to the California standard. Then comes the move and new living expense. OP right now pays $950 for a 2 bedroom condo; he's not getting anywhere close to that in California unless he is living in the ghetto. He will also have to pay out of pocket unless his new job will pay for his moving expense, if not, OP is paying movers/truck rental, gas, food, and possible one night at a hotel/motel, pay security deposit, first and last month's rent and a pet deposit if he has any or if the landlord wants a deposit for a pet, all in all, he could very well be sinking in 7k or more into the move.

The job offer may be great, it may open more opportunities, sure, but if there's things that will make him and his family dislike the move and new changes, he may be better off letting a better offer come down the road. I'm not going to tell a person what job they should take or what they should do with their life, but there are plenty of cons about moving to California for things that fits his needs/wants and his family's needs/wants. OP already said he despises California, if he's forced to move here for a job, he would be in such a shitty mood most of the time lol I mean, I'm still in a shitty mood all the time with my mother dragging me to America; California in particular when I wanted to stay in Russia and I can move anywhere I want no problem, I'm just waiting on my fiance to finish college before getting the hell out of here, but until then, I'm always in a shitty mood out here so I drink heavily to get by.

It's still affordable though. The standard of living evens out just like anywhere. It costs more to live there but the jobs pay more.

So basically in the end what happens is you just play with different numbers. At the end of the month, your bills are still the same X% of your paycheck they were before, it's just a different dollar amount than usual. You give up so much to be in the exact same financial spot in a different location hoping that it works out and that it leads to better things down the road. For example, people thing it would be a great idea to move to Seattle for the $15 min wage. I spend $400/mo in fuel just to get to work.
