hey guys I need someone to build me a PC, I have a few parts already which I will list so you can work from there which parts go with them. I have a GTX 970 GPU, Fractal Design R5 Case & a 2tb 7200rpm HDD as well as a 120gb Samsung Evo 840 SSD. I am looking to upgrade my RAM which is 8GB Corsair Xms3, my CPU which is intel i5 3570K, my Mobo which is MSI Z77A-G43 and my PSU which is 500W (forget brand). If you think any of the parts I currently have are worth upgrading I'll also consider it. Budget is betwen £500-£600 pounds. I dont need any monitors, keyboard or a mouse.

Keep your case, HDD, SSD.
Sell your CPU, MOBO/RAM, and old GPU if you want.

Your PSU is probably fine, would be nice to know the make/model. If anything you could opt for a cheaper semi-modular and add about ~40 pounds overall to the budget.

CPU: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£194.96 @ Ebuyer)
Motherboard: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£87.80 @ Alza)
Memory: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£116.02 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (£191.39 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £590.17

Could spend ~30 pounds more and get a 8gb model of the 580.

A 970 and a 480 are pretty close in performance in most games, and the 580 is just a rebranded 480 with a factory overclock. No point in spending $200+ on a GPU that's only 10% faster in some games. If I was OP I'd wait for RX Vega or save up for a 1070. You can get one for $380 now and they're only going to get cheaper.

I honestly wouldn't even bother with a CPU upgrade. 3570k is still a perfectly capable chip. Only reason to upgrade CPU is if you really require more threads, in which case I'd grab an R5 1600 but that's not going to be a huge benefit in games. Definitely not enough to warrant the $350-400+ it will cost for the CPU, new motherboard and new DDR4 RAM. If you really want, add another 8GB RAM to your current system. I'd also recommend adding another SSD since 120GB is fairly minimal and the 840 EVO isn't a great SSD, plus more SSD's is never bad. Other than that, upgrade PSU if it is fairly lackluster in terms of quality.

For GPU, and RX 580 is not an upgrade from a GTX 970. At best, it's a 'sidegrade' so it's definitely not worth $200+, it'd just be a waste of money. Also, if you're running 1080p, there's really no reason to upgrade from a GTX 970 at all. I'd only upgrade from the 970 if you're running 1440p or greater, or 1080p 144Hz. If that's the case, a GTX 1070 or Vega equivalent once they release.
