So whenever I buy something like tickets or something to do something I enjoy, my parents complain at me that I'm wasting my money, have nothing to show for it and I don't know the value of money and I should be paying them before doing this stuff. Pretty much all that when we already agreed I pay them at the end of every month when I started working at my new place and were in week 2. I just find it funny the fact that they complain I spend money on stuff I enjoy to do but then they're going on a cruise later this year which is £2000 each.

If I hadn't earned this money myself busting my ass but was given it by them, I could understand them telling me what to do with it but when it's my own earned money, I think it's ridiculous.

Any of you have experiences like this?

Yes all the time. Although my mother only complains because she'd rather me spend it on a house, car or just general savings so I can get something I need when the time comes. I normally spend it anyway because I want to have a good time but she doesn't understand that and thinks it's irrelevant.

I hear ya, how I see it. If we want to enjoy life rather than constantly saving why can't we? I spent it anyway too because as I said it's our hard earned money and when they're taking trips with their friends on cruises and stuff. Can't see why I can't do what's i wanna do. I just kinda wanted to get the rant off my chest lol

I have fairly expensive hobbies, luckly I don't catch any flack from my dad. All of my bills are paid, he couldn't care less where my money goes.

My mom was the same way. The only thing she'd ever tell me is "Make sure it's something you really want."

I earn my own money, I make my own choices.

My mom does. All the damn time. Every purchase that I make is exactly what she doesn't want.

You know it brother ;) I'll still continue to do it because it's what I spend my money on is what I love to do. I was curious just to see if it's the same with others and from the results so far it's pretty damn similar!
