Here's some logical answers for you, spiders can't tell the difference between humans, or the sack of Potato. In their little spidery hearts, they do have a little regret, but then do they realize their best option is to survive and not try and fight you haha. Here's your answer, they can't get revenge and the smell won't kill them.

most likely you don't have arachnophobia. don't spray it with something that's kinda **** up if you really want to kill one of them squash it. It's not going to do anything leave it alone.

Spiders breathe through their limbs, so technically if the perfume was sticky enough it could essentially block where they take air in which would mean that it would drown.
But spiders can also go for days without breathing, so if it finds water to wash the perfume off itself, not on purpose obviously because they aren't that smart, but by accident, then it could survive.

It's pretty interesting really. That's why you should always be careful opening a jar or lifting up a glass if you've caught a spider under it because even days later they can still be alive.

In the future though I'd just grab a shoe.
