So I'm traveling, saw this internet caffe down literally under the hotel, got down there payed a dollar for an hour for internet on my laptop, during that time I retrieved his wifi password and wrote it down. When my time was done he disconnected everything, but then after that I reconnected and went up to my 3rd floor room, sat on the balcony and started working on my laptop. Anyways, he just closed and the metal sheet that he pulled down his shop lowered the wifi range, does anyone have any DIY where I can make my laptop reach a little further? I need to get my work done and this hotel does not offer wifi. I am not in the US btw. Traveling overseas.

Those Metal Sheets are probably having the Faraday effect play on the signal.

There might be a few homebrew, tricks, but picking up a WiFi extender might be a better play.

Most of the homebrew hacks require an external antenna and a reflective cone of sorts.

It still pops up, just won't let me connect and it goes away a lot. It's 1:25 am here, so I can't pickup anything. I was wondering maybe something I could have here that I can stick it on my wifi adapter or something!
