My workplace has a system where we donate to three major charities a year. One in the first third of the year and so on.
The money comes from a lot of different places but mainly donations from us workers through things like events, bake sales, fancy dress days and that sort of thing.

Hei wrote I don't see charitable acts as achievements. I simply do them because I want to.
They're achievements for the people you help. imo

I volunteered at a 'Soup Kitchen' in San Francisco for the day on Memorial Day. We served just short of 3,000 meals between 10am and 1pm.
The people we assisted were incredibly greatful, liked that i came all the way from the UK too.

I've done community service for places around my town, like mow the lawn and go to AA meetings. I haven't done much but hopefully in the future I'll be doing more.
