That said, I'm not sure what direction you'd rather go for monitor. You could get a nice 1440p monitor for $200, or a 1080p 144Hz monitor for $200. I love my 2560x1080 ultrawide, and you can get a nice one for $160, so that's a good shout, but only if you're interested in ultrawide.

I don't recommend the 3GB GTX 1060, that's just a placeholder. GPU pricing is ridiculous right now, and your best bet IMO, is to buy used. You should be able to find a nice RX 470/570 or a 6GB GTX 1060 for $250, one of those would be a good option. Otherwise, you can find used GTX 980s for $200-250. Used GTX 980Ti's were going for the $250 mark, but you're probably looking at $300+ for one of those now. Even if you can manage to find a GTX 970 for the $200 range, that should be alright, still a better option than the 3GB GTX 1060 IMHO.

I went with the cheapest, decent quality case with a side window and PSU shroud. However, I'd spend an extra $10-25 for a Fractal Design Define C, a Phanteks Enthoo Pro M, or one of the nicer looking Eclipse P400(s)'. You can get a black/red P400 with tempered glass side window for $80.
