Pause your downloads and check you internet speed via speed test on your phone see if it's just your internet

99% sure that it is an Internet problem rather than the Macbook.

Check your speeds and if they are not up to what you pay for, Either Reset the router or phone your provider.

Before phoning your provider directly connect into your modem, if its an all in one unit direct connect to that. If u have your own router and the isp's modem and directly connecting changes those speeds then its the router or the cabling, depending on the internet speed and device capabilities. You could try updating the firmware on router, changing the security type and wireless channel, if its an all in one unit provided by the isp try powercycling or pin resetting the unit before callling them. If nothing else works then contact your isp. Use speedtest.net for the best results

Computer's usually have nothing to do with download speed. Unless your hard drive transfer rate is garbage which I highly doubt.

There are a few things that could cause this.
1. Your internet speed is good, but you are almost out of range of your router.
2. Your internet speed is bad.
3. Your internet resources are being used up by other devices on the network, or other programs on your mac.
4. Your mac has a bad wifi adapter (unlikely, but still possible)
5. Your mac has bad write speeds.


How to solve:
1. Stop downloading everything
2. Close all programs (shouldn't be a little light dot under program on the dock)
3. Run [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] on your mac.
(if you are satisfied with the speed, then your problem is #3 or #5. continue to step 4)
(if not go to 3b)
3b. Run [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] on a different device in the same room. If you get much better speeds, then your problem is #4
(if not your problem was #1 or #2. go to step 5)
4. Try downloading without any other programs running or devices on the network.
(if you are satisfied, then your problem was #3)
(if not your problem is #5)
5. Move as close to the router as possible. Test on your mac and another device. If you get better speed, then your problem is #1.
(if not then your problem is #2)
