UFC is probably the least popular prefix that is discussed on this site, perhaps it's because a lot of people don't enjoy the topic. But it also could be that a lot of people don't know all that much about it.
So i thought i'd make this topic, that perhaps would educate some of you as to what the promotion is. UFC to me and many others is a very exciting thing. Unlike any other company, it pairs up the greatest fighters to their respective art forms and puts them together in an all out brawl with immense grappling, fighting ability and technical moves and submissions.

I am also aware that the information could be found anywhere, but i thought it would be nice to have the information easily accessible and sectioned into neat topics.

In non-championship fights, there shall be allowed a 1 pound weigh allowance. In championship fights, the participants must weigh no more than that permitted for the relevant weight division.
The Commission may also approve catch weight bouts, subject to their review and discretion. For example, the Commission may still decide to allow the contest the maximum weight allowed is 177 pounds if it feels that the contest would still be fair, safe and competitive.
In addition, if one athlete weighs 264 pounds while the opponent weighs 267 pounds, the Commission may still decide to allow the contest if it determines that the contest would still be fair, safe and competitive in spite of the fact that the two contestants technically weighed in differing weight classes.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC for short, was founded 23 years ago in November 1993. The UFC is the largest Mixed Martial Arts promotion in the world, based in Las Vegas, Nevada. tournament called "War of the Worlds" was originally proposed by Art Davie to John Milius and Rorion Gracie which was an eight-man single elimination tournament. The tournament would also feature martial artists from different disciplines facing each other in no-holds-barred combat to determine the best martial art. Davie drafted the business plan and twenty-eight investors contributed the initial capital to start WOW Promotions with the intent to develop the tournament into a television franchise.
WOW Promotions and SEG produced the first event, later called UFC 1, at McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado on November 12, 1993. Art Davie functioned as the show's booker and matchmaker.
Eventual UFC president Dana White said,

UFC Rules and Regulations:
The Rules and Regulations in UFC are divided into various sections;

The current rules for the Ultimate Fighting Championship were originally established by the New Jersey Athletic Control Board. The set of "Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts" that New Jersey established has been adopted in other states that regulate mixed martial arts, including Nevada, Louisiana, and California. These rules are also used by many other promotions within the United States, becoming mandatory for those states that have adopted the rules, and so have become the standard de facto set of rules for professional mixed martial arts across the country.

Evolution of The Rules:
Although the advertising said There Are No Rules, there were in fact some rules: no biting, no eye-gouging and no groin attacks for the very first UFC promotion. Over the years many new rules were added and removed to better the competition. The promotion got progressively more restrictive on things such as groin attacks and stomping to stop critical injuries from taking place. Currently there are many rules that prevent serious injuries occuring within fighters, but that is not to say they do not happen. There is rules in place but it is still a vicious art form.

"It is the largest MMA promotion in the world"
Mixed Martial Arts is the type of fighting the contenders use, UFC is the PROMOTION that created a televised championship in which MMA fighters face off. This topic is to educate on the PROMOTION, as in Ultimate Fighting Championship as an organization. Not the fighting itself. Please educate yourself before posting wrong statements.
