My friend has a gtx 980 ti he wants to give me. Id like to use both graphics cards if possible and what exactly would i have to upgrade. The computer runs all the stuff i play with ease but it can be so much better and id like to make it better. Budget is around $350-$400. Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure Nvidia doesn't support sli on the GTX 1050Ti. I know they do on the 980Ti tho

Uh, how much are you getting the 980Ti for? You can't use the 1050Ti and the 980Ti together. What do you use the system for exactly, what games, etc?

So is the $350-400 including the 980Ti? Or $350-400 for other upgrades?

CPU: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($155.69 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ($77.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $398.66

If the $225 for the 980Ti is out of your $400 budget then there's not really much you can do with $175 other than add an SSD. Minimum for CPU upgrade would be $250;

Intel's Coffee Lake should release soon and you should be able to get a nice Pentium with HT or 4 core i3 for ~$200-220, so if you can wait a couple of weeks that might be a nice option.

Yea im in no hurry to really upgrade i have to save money for it. I was just getting ideas. And im pretty sure ill need a new power supply cause the one it has now is ya know trash. And is there no way of using the motherboard it has? Cause i upgraded the ram already haha

*edit: and the 980 ti is not part of the $400 i already have it

The motherboard you have now is AM3+/AM3. You would only be able to use a CPU that fits that socket; which would be the FX series, Athlon and Phenom CPUs. You need a differnet motherboard to support the Ryzen CPUs. Upgrading RAM was also a poor choice. The motherboard you have supports only DDR3 RAM. If you got the RAM recently, I would see if the place you bought it from will allow you to return it and put that money back into the new upgrades on the build.
