I know previously I posted about a build that was 1300 but I came into some extra money and I would like the best possible build I can get for 2000 dollars usd
2000 is for the pc only
I need nothing else
I am only going to use it for gaming.
I would like overclock as well
I want intel I am going to wait until coffee lake to launch so I know you can't give me exact prices so it will be fine to guesstimate I would also like to include a 1080 ti if it fits in the budget.
I would like a rgb build but if that doesn't fit in the build because of the price of the parts then that's fine.
I already have monitors they are MSI Gaming Monitor 27inch Curved Non-Glare LED Wide Screen 1920 x 1080 OPTIX-G27C and I have 2 of them

Should be right around $2k with an 8700k and Asus Strix Z370 motherboard. You can get 16GB 3200MHz RAM for $140 if you don't want RGB RAM. Add cable extensions and LEDs or whatever when you have a spare $50 or so. Id build the system first and then add small things like that to improve aesthetics. SLI support so you can add a 2nd 1080Ti at any point if you want, but one is plenty for 1080p144Hz. I included a pretty expensive cooler, you can easily save a bit of money there, especially if Coffee Lake temps are good.

Personally I think if its only for gaming go with Ryzen because you are about to blow $340 on a 4 core 8 thread CPU when:

1600X:$259 - 6 Core 12 Thread @3.7GHz Overclock-able CPU (I am guessing to around 4.1 GHz)
1700:$319 - 8 Core 16 Thread @3.7GHz CPU (not overclock-able)
1700X:$389 - 8 Core 16 Thread @3.8 GHz (Overclock-able) CPU

SO for ~ $100 cheaper you can get the same performance of a stock 7700k, with that extra 100 you can get more RAM or spend it on whatever
BUT if you plan on 3D modelling or video production, manipulation ect I would go with Intel because it is a lot more optimized for that work load.

Uh, you've got that back to front. Why would you pay more for an i7 with less cores/threads if you're doing content creation that's actually going to benefit from the extra cores/threads? In gaming, specifically high refresh rate gaming at 1080p(what OP is doing), nothing touches the i7.

1700X:$389 - 8 Core 16 Thread @3.8 GHz (Overclock-able) CPU

First, since when is the R7 1700 "not overclock-able"?
Secondly, no it's not $340 for a 4C/8T CPU, didn't you read what OP said;
Yolo wrote I want intel I am going to wait until coffee lake to launch

or what I said, here;

No, you can't. Also, the 7700k is unlocked(as will the 8700k be) and OP said he'll be overclocking so stock performance of the i7 is irrelevant.

As you can see, the 7700k(even at stock speeds) is consistently performing a good chunk better than even an overclocked Ryzen 7, so Ryzen 5 isn't going to come close to i7 for high refresh rate gaming at 1080p.

So not only is Intel OP's preference, but it's the better option, especially if he waits 2 weeks for a 6C/12T i7-8700k, which he specifically stated he'd be doing.

Well actually, an i7700k renders faster than the Ryzen 1800x. Also I did read the 1700 wrong (looked at the wrong part).

But however, it is still better to get a 7700k or 8700k for content creation even though it has less cores and threads.

Also.... in your PC Part Picker List you put the 7700k and if you read the title its a 4 core 8 thread CPU.
And in your part picker list it says it is $340. Even though he said he wanted to wait for it I was saying what would happen if he did.

Finally, YES you can get the performance of a i7 7700k stock on a overclocked R7 & R5 (XFR). Also the stock of the 8700k is 3.7GHz so you can do that without XFR.

No, it doesn't. Unless you're specifically talking about a program that only utilises 4 cores, which isn't common with content creation.

iGouldz wrote But however, it is still better to get a 7700k or 8700k for content creation even though it has less cores and threads.

No, it's absolutely not. Content creation = Ryzen. Gaming = Intel.

iGouldz wrote Also.... in your PC Part Picker List you put the 7700k and if you read the title its a 4 core 8 thread CPU.

Okay, so apparently you're just not actually reading the words I wrote. Let me quote myself again for you, shall I?;
Sanctorum wrote Should be right around $2k with an 8700k and Asus Strix Z370 motherboard.

See, the 7700k and Z270 mobo are obviously placeholders for an 8700k and Z370 motherboard, hence why I said exactly that.

iGouldz wrote Finally, YES you can get the performance of a i7 7700k stock on a overclocked R7 & R5 (XFR).

Okay, that's nice that you think that, I'm afraid my proof trumps your claim though. So, have fun with that.

iGouldz wrote Also the stock of the 8700k is 3.7GHz so you can do that without XFR

Again, stock clock speeds of the 8700k are irrelevant since OP specifically stated he'd be overclocking. You don't compare overclocked Ryzen to stock Intel, that's not how it works. Oh, and 3.7GHz is BASE clock for 8700k. It boosts in to the 4GHz range.

Not shit it boosts to over 4GHz and that is completely irrelevant. I didn't once state that he was getting a 7700k I was just talking about them.

Well in AE & Premiere pretty sure they don't only use 4 cores but the 7700k still rendered the video faster.

Intel is not just for gaming. Its far more than just for gaming.

And what the actual **** do you mean. WHAT PROOF? 1600X & above overclock to the stock which is relevant

8800K - Turbo @4.7GHz | 4.7 x 12 = 56.4GHz total
1800X - Turbo @4GHz+ | 4 x 16 = 64GHz Total.
1700 - Turbo @3.7GHz | 3.7 x 16 = 59.2GHz

So the Ryzen 1700 is faster than the 8800k which makes it better than the new 8800k?
So I mean like 1700 is better so why go with 8800k which isn't really useful if you are only going to play games?

Of course it's relevant.

iGouldz wrote Intel is not just for gaming. Its far more than just for gaming.

Except that Ryzen is better for content creation and Intel is better for gaming, except right now Intel doesn't even make sense for gamers, at least until Coffee Lake launches.

iGouldz wrote And what the actual **** do you mean. WHAT PROOF? 1600X & above overclock to the stock which is relevant

Lol, English please? "1600X overclock to the stock" makes no sense. Again, you've provided no proof, yet I've shown proof that the 7700k at stock speeds performs better than even an overclocked Ryzen 7.

iGouldz wrote 8800K - Turbo @4.7GHz | 4.7 x 12 = 56.4GHz total

U wot. Except the R7 1700 is not faster in games, at all. It's an 8700k, there is no 8800k and won't be one. You would go with the 8700k because it will offer 7700k performance in games but have 2 more cores.

lol this argument was way too funny to read. I dont think this guy understands that that a that a higher clocked processor means its better simply cuz of higher clock speeds. while yes overclocking makes it preform faster. My old as shit 8370 is oc to 4.8ghz and but by no means does that make it better than a i7 lmao but based on that guys math thats how it would work.
