By the looks of the below image, the suspect had his face smashed to the ground when been taken down so that is nice to know.

One shocked onlooker wrote on Twitter: 'Just witnessed a car drive into people in London. Safe for now please message your friends if they're here near the national museum.'
Another user posted: 'Looks like a guy tried to mow people down at the natural history museum.'

Any information should be reported to the telephone number - 101.

The below url contains some footage of the scene at the moment. Its quite saddening to see some people carry on as if nothing has happened, as if this is the new normal.

It's always interesting seeing people on social media who forget to self censor in times like these and say what they are actually thinking. I am not talking about people who have a following for their political views but just the average user.

Stay safe peeps

Get ready for the "Pray for London" on Twitter and Facebook

In all serious though, I don't think there's another city who's stronger than London. Like 6 terrorist attacks plus the Acid attacks since March, the City just gets on and lives with it.

Overview from the last hour or so:

At around 14.20 (BST - London), a vehicle collided with pedestrians before colliding with a vehilce.

Civilians around the vehicle pulled the driver from the vehicle and detained him. The location of the collision was a shared space road.

10 or so minutes later Police and Ambulance Service arrived in heavy numbers.

Armed Police and Helicopters arrived shortly after to contain the area.

The Museum was evacuated through a back door and all roads surrounding the Museum closed.

Civilians were advised to leave the area via the nearest Tube Station, 10 or so Armed Police Officers followed the civilians into the Tube Station to maintain order and keep civilians safe.

No motive has been discovered at this point (15.46)

Heavily Armed Police are currently being briefed

An ambulance left the scene roughly 10 minutes ago (around 15.36) at high speed.

Eyewitnesses report rumours of somebody with a knife after the collision, hence the heavily armed police.

In addition to this, Explosives Dogs and Specialist Fire Crews have arrived on the Scene. Until Official Comment on that is made, we should only assume it's precautionary.

Fingers crossed that's the case but until the Met. release a statement regarding the classification of the incident, it's too early to dismiss the big T as the motive.

Just to add onto this;

BBC wrote A Downing Street spokesman said the prime minister is "being kept up to date on events".
The current terror threat level in the UK is "severe" - the second highest - meaning an attack is highly likely.

"We have had lots of police coming onto the scene, helicopters above, and I can see an ambulance which is definitely having someone put in, but it isn't clear how bad that injury is."

Sloane square station has been closed down then after a few minutes police have been recorded storming into the station. It was re-opened 20 minutes after the police entry - hopefully just a precaution.

Sadly in 2011 the street was revamped with the aim of "Making cars and people and people co-exist harmoniously"

One of the involved vehicles is a private hire minicab, read into this what you will.

Met police statement

Police were called at 1421 hours on Saturday, 7 October to reports of a road traffic collision in Exhibition Road, South Kensington.
Emergency Service attended the scene.
Whilst enquiries continue it is believed a car mounted the pavement and collided with a number of pedestrians.
11 people were found at the scene with varying injuries and nine of them have been taken to hospital, and this includes the man that was detained by police. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The man detained by officers is currently under arrest and is in custody at a north London police station.
The incident is a road traffic investigation and not a terrorist-related incident.
Enquiries are ongoing.
