If you're worried about the price of maintenance and purchasing the car at 18...might I suggest a 2010 Honda or Toyota? Far more reliable and cheaper to work on.

Well thats not what I really want Im 18 but my mom is co-signing on it and Im going under her insurance so I know all the prices of the Audi is going to be lower then if I would do everything by myself . I just was doing a lot of research and Audis dont cause as much problems as people say they do mostly Mercedes and BMWs

Audi is known for electrical issues.

As far as insurance, it will still be expensive weather it's with your mom or not. Let me give you an example, my brother has a 2013 Mustang, he is 21 years old and him, my dad, my mom, an me are all on the same policy and he pays $240/mo for insurance.

Honestly, between the high cost of insurance, repairs, and maintenance, I would not get any luxury vehicle at your age.

I'm just trying to understand how this is your first car and when you decided to pick one out you were looking at Mercs, BMWs, and Audis? My parents would've died laughing and my friends would've thought I was the biggest douche. An Audi is a dressed up VW which are not the most reliable vehicles. I'm not going to tell you what to get or not to get the A4, but what I will say is this...

Own your possessions, don't let your possessions own you.

If you're worried about maintenance fees on your first car...a luxury car...you're going to have a fun time paying the rest of the bills.

I've had a few luxury cars and sports car since I was 16, trust me on the fact that if you *think* it may be a possible issue in any way then just don't do it because EVENTUALLY it probably will be. If you want reliable, nice, and cheap then go for a newer american or jap car.

Get a car you can have fun in at this age and not worry about getting by for payments, insurance, and gas. You have to factor in many other costs too, not just what you see on paper.

Diesel, petrol..?

You won't run into too many problems in a 2015 model, but as the mileage goes up and the age on the body you'll get electrical faults, turbo failures and some other things. Audi parts are expensive and sometime you have to pay to have a whole unit replaced if one small thing breaks. But if you can afford it, go for it.

Worried about cost, don't do it. I'm 20 and pay $340 on my parents insurance for an 07 VW GTI all because it's considered a sports car. Don't do it unless you know you can afford it.

I drive a 2017 Focus RS and im 18 and my insurance is 240 a month. And as for the OP dont buy something if you are worried about future costs/maintenance. And I dont think an Audi will have high insurance if you are under your parents name since its not even considered a sports car but its not really the car that makes the insurance high its the drivers. Same reason why new sti's have triple my rates. Buy something where you feel comfortable paying that price for the car and also possibly future problems that you might come across.
