I'd recommend getting a cheaper car and getting insured on your own name, it will be cheaper in the long run. I made the mistake and went under a parents name.

Get a shit box to boot about in. you might want to look like a G in a fresh Audi but considering that it's your first car, you'll probably get a few bumps and scrapes along the way.

17K? Surely you've got points, a lot of them or recent offences? Jesus christ, I got 1.5K on a BMW M4 and 4K on a bloody lambo.
