My Review of the first Game (Shadow of Mordor)

Middle-earth: Shadow of Waris anaction role-playingvideo gamedeveloped byMonolith Productionsand published byWarner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is the sequel to 2014'sMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and was released worldwide on October 10, 2017 forMicrosoft Windows,PlayStation 4andXbox One. A companion game was released foriOSandAndroidas afree-to-playtop-downvideo game.

Shadow of Warcontinues the previous game's narrative, which is based onJ. R. R. Tolkien'slegendariumand set between the events ofThe HobbitandThe Lord of the Rings. Like its predecessor, the game also takes heavy inspiration from directorPeter Jackson'sThe HobbitandThe Lord of the Ringsfilm adaptations. The player continues the story of the ranger Talion and the spirit of the elf lordCelebrimbor, who shares Talion's body, as they forge a newRing of Powerto amass an army to fight againstSauron. The game builds upon the "Nemesis System" introduced inShadow of Mordor, allowing Talion to gain followers from several races of Middle-earth, includingUruksandOlogs, and plan out complex strategies using these to complete missions.

Shadow of War was well received by critics, with heavy praise aimed towards its much improved nemesis system, production value, and lore, while its story was received mixly, and it's use of Microtransactions was heavily panned.
