Keeping this simple. Looking for a CPU/mobo, and or GPU upgrade. Current build is below, keep in mind these are just PCPP prices, not everything here was purchased at listed price other than the GPU's. I use WD red's for backups; so they aren't exactly being used; they're stored, this is just a general list; and the Hitachi drives are active.
The case is not listed as PCPP doesn't seem to have it. ( air 740 )
Budget: Keep it at or under $1100 (US) [see later in post for more on this]
Requests: Keep AMD out of mind, I use that on my gaming rig, personally not worth it for my needs. Useful yes; i've had it before so no considering it. Strictly Intel.
I was thinking of going with the 8700k, and the Maximus X, or the aorus gaming 7. I would be fine using the 980's still; i don't do much gaming on this machine anymore. Mainly focused on rendering, and dedicated virtualization (unraid, etc). If I have too i can stretch the budget out to $1450 TOPS, and opt-in for a 1080ti, if I benefit any.

Either get an 8700k and $200 motherboard or go X299 with a $300 motherboard and a 7820x or 7900x.
