Yeah, if you're just playing less demanding games like CSGO and what not, then 1080p 144Hz is a decent option. I just wouldn't go with 1080p 144Hz if you're playing AAA titles mostly. That BenQ monitor for £190 looks pretty good, that's probably what I'd go with tbh.

Yes, your GTX 970 will be fine.

Just a quick follow up - i've gone for the AOC G2460PF due to it featuring FreeSync, given that AMD's answer to nvidia's GSync has gone down well in reviews its pretty decent to be able to pick it up for sub £250 imo..
