Im a butcher and the people that special request the smallest things really annoy me. "can you take this skin off of this chicken" "can you cut this turkey leg into 1/3" "can you take the fat of this bottom roast". The most common request that we get is to remove the skin from whole chickens, when we sell.... already detailed chicken for like .49 more.... Chicken is a HUGE concern in terms of cross contamination so we get all of our chicken pre packed (at the store I work at) so we ONLY deal with beef etc, all of our cutting blocks and saws etc are made for beef. I get it, we get paid to do this but its just annoying after we clean up with all the cutting boards and knives etc to have some upper class posh lady who finds it gross to touch raw chicken come and ask us to clip the wing tips off of her chicken. While my diet has changed ALOT and my views on animals have changed along with hunting, my deep inner vegan side of me still thinks that if you cant handle the idea of cutting raw meat or skinning a chicken (raw not live) then MAYBE just maybe you shouldnt be paying someone else to do it for you. I have high respect for hunters as they generally kill what they eat and dedicate alot of time to this practice, but I have zero respect for lazy people who walts into the grocery store, opt out of spending an extra 50 cents to have SOMEONE else take the skin off of a chicken breast.
Had a customer ask for crawfish one day, I asked "oh you like crawfish, thats not very common around here" she said "I love it, but I get my boyfriend to peel them for me because its gross to me" ???? I have a huge issue with the large disconnect alot of Americans have with where their food comes from, I have more respect for the person who has seen slaughterhouse footage and or hunts that understands how their food came to be and accepts that, than the person who is willful ignorant on the subject. Do people really just think meat and poultry grow on trees or something?
Also im not here to debate dieting or anything like that
TL;DR - if you cant handle the ways animals are prepared for food, if you cant **** cut a raw turkey leg into 1/3 then maybe you shouldnt be eating it, there are plenty of other sustainable diets.

I hunted growing up and killed my first deer at 10 years old. My father taught be how to skin it and prepare it. People like this usually have other people do their dirty work. Now while it is your job to serve them, they can also be considerate which the people you explained clearly weren't.
If they don't like the way the food is prepared or sold, go Vegan or just shut your god damn mouth and take what you bought.
Or if you want to prepare it your way, go to a slaughter house and kill a chicken and strip it and do it your way.

I look at Medical Examiners and think " i would never cut people up and do that stuff"
That same examiner looks at my job as a police officer and thinks "i would never do that, not my thing"
Get what i am trying to say here?

I did cashiering for a few months and it was one of the worst positions ive ever had to work in.

While I have never worked as a butcher, when I lived in Russia there was a slaughterhouse/store that my grandfather and I would go to for meat or to sell whatever we hunted. I have witnessed some people being really picky with how they want their meat cut, what they want on it and it always made me question why they can't go home and do it themselves, something as simple as cutting fat off of meat doesn't take any skill at all. Skipping ahead to living in America, the only time I've asked a butcher to do something for me was to descale a fish because at the time I had no clue how to do it and even then I asked just for him to do a little bit if it's easier that way, so I can watch and I'll try when I got home.
I do agree with your statement about people who are squeamish when it comes to how a dead animal is processed for food; yet will eat it no problem when it's pretty much out of sight out of mind about how it became food. I've hunted with my grandfather since I was 8. Before that that though he did teach me about how animals are killed and prepared for food, he took me to a slaughterhouse so I can see it in person and when I was 6 had me skin a Moose, cut it up and what do with it's organs (Moose liver sausage is amazing by the way.) I believe a lot of European, probably more Slavic and Scandinavian countries teach kids at a young age about death of an animal and where their food comes from so they can make a decision what they want to eat instead of being blind to what happens for animal preparation. Example, some schools in Norway will take the kids there as young as 5 on a school trip to a slaughterhouse to teach them about these type of things, and I believe kids should be shown those things to make their own decision.
