how do i insert a photo from my desktop in my topic?

You need to upload it to a Picture storing website like Imgur then link it using this:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
If you are taking screenshots from your desktop i recommend a tool like ShareX as it does it all automatic and all you have to do is copy and paste the link.
EDIT: Also be aware that when you are linking the URL has either .jpeg or .png at the end of it (Basically what ever file type your image is otherwise it wont work)
