I am looking to start streaming but I tried and I don't think my processor is good enough

Current build:
I5 6500
B150m mortar
8gb RAM
GTX 1080
Evga g2 650w

What processor would be good enough to be able to stream with a budget of £500(GBP) ?

Thanks

SSD. The difference is immense. Get one that will support an OS and your favorite games/programs. Then you can use your HDD solely as extra storage. You will see more of a difference for the money.

Kaby Lake isn't the "latest". It also hasn't made sense to buy Kaby Lake since like March last year. At least not if a motherboard is required, like you thought. OP does not need a new motherboard for a Kaby Lake CPU though.

OP - As said above, SSD hands down. You haven't mentioned storage at all, so we don't know if you have an SSD or not. If you don't, seriously get an SSD before you do literally anything else. Next thing I'd do is add another 8GB RAM. RAM is priced ridiculously right now so this is one you could wait for if you want, but you already have 8GB so you shouldn't be paying more than £80-90 for another 8GB stick, right now at least.

Your CPU is fine for streaming. If you want a better looking stream but worse performance on your end, switch to Ryzen. If you want better performance and a fine, but worse looking stream(than you'd get with Ryzen), stick with your i5-6500, or at most, grab yourself a Skylake/Kaby Lake i7. Don't pay more than £250 for a last gen i7 though, they're not worth it. You can probably find a used 6700k/7700k pretty easily for £220ish. You're not going to be able to overclock anyway though, so this could be a solid option;

£240/250 isn't too terrible a price for an i7-7700 currently. You'd be able to find a 6700/7700 for £190-200 used probably but you might have to look around a bit to find one.

I have a 120gb SSD and a 1tb hard drive. Would the ram be the reason I can't stream right now or? Cause I had 73% frame loss when I tried to stream Fortnite... I do need to get a bigger SSD though is there one you could recommends maybe a 500gb one?

EDIT: I've been looking around and saw this is this a good deal? [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Would I need to get new ram for this yeah?

You wouldn't need new RAM, but Ryzen benefits from faster RAM so you'll want to overclock your RAM if you switch to Ryzen. Keep in mind, you'll take a small hit to gaming performance for the most part swapping to Ryzen from your i5, but it will drop less frames when streaming so a better experience for viewers. I'd try to grab a 500GB SSD, 850 EVO specifically(or MX300 if it's a bit cheaper). That said, a 250GB SSD will be fine in addition to your current 120GB one if you'd rather save a bit of cash. That 1700X+X370 Pro bundle is decent, you could easily do that and a 500GB SSD, or the bundle, 250GB SSD and another 8GB RAM within your £500 budget.

Yeah might do that, how would ryzen perform compared to the I7 you linked which would be better ?

Also how would a coffee lake i5 or maybe even i7 compare to them? because i am open to anything i will happily change motherboard etc if needed. And could push the budget to 600 also

EDIT: sorry to be a pain but im also looking seperately for a wireless mouse for £100 ive looked at the Logitech G903 but just wondering if there are any others that are better?

thanks

My recommendations would be getting a SSD and more RAM.

I'd recommend a Samsung EVO 850 250gb or 500gb. (120gb is too small in my opinion.)
For the RAM get 16gb, Corsair/GSkill/PNY are some trusted brands.

Also for your CPU, your motherboard will support a 7th gen intel,
I'd get a i7 7700k, your BIOS will need an update.

Other than that your build is solid.

I wouldn't bother upgrading to Coffee Lake. Not worth it. Like I said, Ryzen will be better for anyone watching your stream, whereas Intel will let you see better performance in games so it's up to you whether you'd rather grab an i7-6700/7700(k) or just go with AM4 and grab an R5 1600 or R7 1700.

As for mouse, couldn't really tell you. Last wireless mouse I used was an MX Master quite a while ago now.
