I can't believe that some teens have to wake up with the fear of knowing that there could be a shooting at any time. I believe the United States needs to focus more on the mental makeup of a person, rather than focusing on stricter or looser gun control.

Teens are out here being neglected or abused at home, being bullied by other students during school time. Teens nowadays have a LOT of ways to view incredibly violent videos (the Columbine shooting, for example) and teens with a weak psychological make-up will learn from these videos, especially if neglected or abused at home. And yes, what videos you watch or what videogames you play CAN have an effect on a weak mind, not always but can occur.

And no, I'm not a gun-loving person. I just believe there are more factors in play than just guns.

How unfortunate and sad. Kid should get locked up for a long time and the parents punished as well.

I do think its even sadder that Right wingers aren't here commenting something smart like "That's Liberals for you", or "Must've been a gun free zone".... nothing to say when it happens in a Republican state? And I only bring that up because I believe that is part of the problem as well. Not the guns, that mentality.

I agree that the kid should be put in prison. He should be given the max sentence and the courts should make an example of him. Any and all school shooters should be given that same treatment. He should not be given the easy way out and be put to death, he should be put in prison with adults. I'm sure they will have some way of making sure his life is horrible.

But saying that is parents should be punished is were you are getting ahead of yourself. We should wait and see why he did what he did. Just because he did something stupid does not mean that his parents should be punished. But if it turns out that the kid was bullied at home, or for some reason his parents played a part in this, I agree that his parents should be punished.

Kentucky has only recently turned republican at the state level... "Kentucky long favored the Democratic Party. Democrats have maintained a hold on the governorship, losing it only three times--in 1943, 1967, and 2003--in the last eight decades."

Even if the republicans had there way, things would not change overnight. And even though Kentucky is currently a republican state, they still have democrats. It is not like the state is 100% republican and they can do what ever they want.

I'm not going to argue about the guns safe zones, but I will inform you that Kentucky does have gun free zones, one of those places being schools, and those gun free zones did nothing.

Also it would not have mattered if the school was a gun free zone or not, the kid was 15, he had no right to bring a gun with him at school.

I honestly do not know of any gun regulations that could have prevented this other than an outright gun ban. And that is not possible nor do I want it to happen. If someone wants to keep a secret bad enough, you are not going to know what is going through their mind.

I truly think that we need more mental health regulations.

Every time a school shooting happens, the same gun debate comes up. I'm honestly tired of it. Since no one is going to change their views on guns, I'm not even going to try to argue my side for the guns. Lets put the guns aside, and focus on mental health regulations. Guns are not going away and this is just going to keep happening no matter how many regulations we have. We have tired for so long to fix the gun situation, but the mental health situation has been ignored. If we can not get rid of guns, then lets try to stop people from using them for bad reasons such as school shootings. The only real way to do this is to help people who have mental health problems.

Im not gonna lie after seeing this happen again already this year im dredding it as my little girl turn 3 this year and gonna be starting school like wtf.

Parents now are worried sick of all this bullshit, its bad enough with the attacks in London and now my missus dont even wanna go into London anymore. So now when she heres about this she gonna flip the F out.
