I just mean, instead of having a wired network (ethernet) can it be used wireless? Im only wondering this as Teapot says 'no ethernet connection found, check network connection' which doesnt let me connect to my router unless i have an ethernet from my router to my xbox.

You should b able to go wireless. Go to settings internet make sure you have cord unplugged and sign into your wireless network. all servers allow this has nothing to do with the sever.

Ive tried for hours, when i scan for wireless networks on xbox, click on my network and enter the password, on 'configure network' my IP and DNS are always automatic however they all say 0.0.0.0 then testing xbox live connection doesnt connect even to my router. I have tried manual too. The internet works fine when ethernet is in, so thought could just be the server as my ISP seems to be fine when its wired.
