Well as some of you know, I have two S10s. One is a fully built '01 S10 with a LS1. The other is a build in progress, getting a 426 Hemi. ANYWAY, I took the '01 to the track, as it's a nimble little speed demon. Well, I went through about 6-7 laps and everything seemed fine, so I decided to set her loose. After the first lap of full throttle and power shifty, I noticed 3rd gear being a little weird. Would go into gear sometimes. Well, me being the careless 'itll be fine' guy, I slammed her in there one good time, everything seemed good, went into fourth, then started slowing down and went back to third, and then all hell broke loose. As I went into second, there was a good awful grind and then I hear something break. I look in the mirror and I can see transmission fluid all behind me. So I go to the pits and start looking around, and I shattered third gear, and somehow, my transmission case had literally cracked in half. So now she's in my shop, about to get a new transmission. It was bound to happen, as the truck makes 720whp and the transmission had already blown out at 600. So now we're gonna get something that can handle around 900-1,000whp as that's what we're going for in the truck.

Shit dude. What tranny did you have when you blew it? That's insane. Lmao. My DSG in my VW has been shifting rough. Any reason why third was rough before blowing? Just couldn't handle the power maybe?

The tranny was a 4L60E, which can only handle about 450whp, but I wanted to see what it could really do haha, and with 600, it lasted me a good 5 months with me doggin it here and there, at 700+ it only lasted 2 months, probably more had it not been at the track.
As for third, I'm not entirely sure. When it blew the first time, third gear had also blown out. My guess is third cant handle the power and torque because it doesn't hook until third. So it gets the most abuse in my opinion.
The next tranny will probably a 4L80E as theyre rated for 850, and I don't see me adding anymore horses anytime soon.

Unfortunately no, but I have been debating getting some gopros and some mounts and start making YouTube videos, like working on the trucks, and driving them like a bat outta hell. Thought people might find that interesting lol. I guess it would somewhat similar to Cleetus McFarland if you know who that is. But obviously different because I'm not gonna try and copy what he does haha.

I'd watch your channel.
Especially if you did videos on rebuilding. Like talk and show what you're about to do, cut, cut back in when it's done and talk more.
I'd watch that and you ripping the trucks around.

I'll look into this, I'll make a post if I do it, but it'll be a couple weeks if I decide to.

Damn defiantly time for a 4l80. Been thinking about putting a 4l60 behind a 6.0 in my s10 just to get it running and moving to work the bugs out of it.
