So im looking into some cars, muscle cars to be exact, and one of the first things i do , probably go right from the dealership to the mod shop, im gonna get a mid muffler delete and maybe even straight pipe it. But i have seen some YouTube videos and in the titles say " i got a ticket for loud exhaust" or "my exhaust i so loud im gonna get a ticket". Is that actually true? Because if it is and you can in fact get a ticket for a loud exhaust i may reconsider my options because i dont want to run the risk because my neighbor has called the cops on me before and i dont want to run that risk. Its winter time where im at and i like to leave my car running so it can warm up.

My buddy had to get his custom one removed after he got ticketed.
But I live in Canada.

From what I've seen, you can. 'Disturbing the peace' and whatnot.

Every state has a list of illegal modifications that cant go on a car. So yes you can be pulled over for a loud exhaust its just like a sound system

If you do not know the answer to this question, then maybe you should reconsider getting a car altogether.
As far as I know, it is illegal almost everywhere to have a loud exhaust. You are disturbing the peace. Depending on where you live, you can not pass a emissions test. And the list goes on and on. With that being said, do what ever you want.
What I would suggest doing is getting an exhaust cutout. I have one on my truck. It is placed after the cats but before the exhaust. I normally drive with it open, but if you are ever about to get pulled over, don't want to wake up the neighbors, etc, then you can close it and be quiet. It is the best of both worlds.
This is also a question that you should have either asked a police officer, muffler shop, or searched on line for exhaust laws that pertain to your city/state.

Depends on your county, and state usually. I know in PA you MUST have a muffler on your car, and it cannot exceed a certain decibal at a certain speed.
That being said I've never been pulled over in any of my cars when I've had them straight piped.

This is true. You will need to check with your laws and inspection laws as well.
Where I live you have to have a muffler at all times. I straight cut off my exhaust off my old truck from the cats on and I could not pass inspection but I never got pulled over or a ticket for it and I had it for over a year.

It's all depends on your area. I used to have a turbo'd '03 Mustang GT with an open downpipe and it was ridiculously loud, and I passed police on the regular and they don't touch me. Mostly because in my area they go after speeders and just stupid people. As long as your obeying laws, and not riding at 7 grand the whole time normally they will not come after you. The easiest way to avoid being pulled over, is get a manual car. When you see a cop, push in the clutch and just coast until you're past them and then let it out.
But like I said, it all depends on your area, and if you have a chill neighbor like I do who enjoys loud cars just as much as me. We both do burnouts in our driveways and we both love it.
