Tbh i think the evolution of the call of duty community in the recent years has been guided by what we have been given. Most people say it all went wrong after Blackops 2 with Ghosts (I personally think that game is underrated) then... there was Advanced Warfare.. the game that changed the community forever which was a complete mess. Treyarch on the other hand gave us Blackops 3 which wasn't so bad. That game showed the community probably in its highest and most popular form with the return of Zombies. (Which i still think is one of the biggest community's out there when it comes to games) then came along the other complete waste of time and in my opinion (A COMPLETE PILE OF GARBAGE) game known as Infinite Warfare with its overhyped sideflop MWR... Another sh*! taken on the community. WW2 the idea was great the campaign was probably one of the best we've seen in years. But as for the multiplayer it showed us that sledgehammer didn't quite have the edge anymore they use to with the really stale maps and items in the game. They did try with the zombies mode but honestly i don't think the Zombie community will ever except these latest versions like treyarch's as that's where it originally came from and where its at its best (In my opinion).
The majority of these events over the years have caused the community to split like this. Its more complex than just someone not wanting to buy another call of duty and someone willing to buy them all. Those are just two different types of people out of millions.

Cod doesn't have the same grip on you as it did when you were younger and with age, people are becoming more critical. Can't deny that the game has been on a downward slope for years? I'm not one to speak my mind about a game but I genuinely believe it's just down to age.The BR franchise will die in the next year. You'll soon realize that playing the same thing over and over will get boring. I cannot see FN or PUBG being popular still in the next year.

Happily. Epic created a game that actually keeps you hooked unlike the past 8 years of Call of Duty.
Maybe so. But for now it's actually a great game to play. My point was more so that after a few weeks, I'm put off Call of Duty. BR is a change, that's why everyone's hooked.
Lets see what the future holds.

i disagree. battle royal has been popular for a while now, rust, h1z1 etc. fortnite just boosted popularity because its free, user friendly and multi platformed. i can see fortnite being still popular and enjoyable in 2019.

It's great to see different peoples views on the game, good topic my friend.
Well, I used to love Call of Duty; partially the reason why I didn't do so well on school. I'd be up hours on end playing Gamebattles and just try to get to the top prestige.
The competitive scene has died down significantly since I last played it; a good 3/4 years ago. Reading comments on here and Reddit also it looks like players are not enjoying the game any more, which I would agree with. Coming back I just can't see myself getting into it like I used to. I tried play some rank play but after 3-5 games I find myself bored and just going onto another game. Some of you say it's maturing which again I will agree on. Yes we play fortnite and it's the least mature game I've set my hands on since mario kart but it's great and addictive and ticks all the boxes for now.
But no doubt I will purchase the next Call of Dury just because I always expect it to be better than the last, I mean WW2 Isn't as bad as the boots off the ground CODs. The stats show it on twitch, call of duty is dying.

I like COD and yes I agree the community is a bit two faced when it comes to new games. In all honesty I was slamming WWII a few months ago then really started to enjoy it and think it's a really good game. Same as every cod that has been released, I will buy it even if I know I might not like it but as I've been a fan for a long time I give them a try and take that risk
Also, I don't know why literally everyone is comparing cod to games such as fortnite where it hasn't been around as long as cod to obviously people are going to be playing that more as it's a new type of game and cod has been around for absolute years

Cool rant man, same for me, I refused to buy Call Of Duty World War 2, Call Of Duty for me is a completely dead game now. If just not what it used to be.
