Let me guess, you were curios xD

I did the exact same one day after watching those tech support scammer videos. The only thing to do is tick 'store startup key locally'.

This means you won't have to type it when you start the system on a morning etc. You can disable it via using an application called hires which is really easy to do.

Alternatively if it's going to frustrate you that much, rebuilding the OS will do the trick

So, you're trying to get around a security feature of which it seems like a school has put in place?

I work for a school and RM [Research Machines] supply school equipment to schools in the UK including laptops and PC's. The only way that I can see you buying an RM machine is if you picked one up from Ebay for cheap.

If this PC is on a school site, I'd highly suggest you stop attempting to get around the system. Not because of the damage you could do, but just the implications it causes later on for yourself once you are caught.

If you are not at school or whatever, ignore me fully and I apologise

I've never been aware of schools using Syskey? Is it a GPO thing? What's the purpose of using Syskey within a school network anyway, the secondary school I went to had encrypted files and folders anyway so data loss was very rare.

Thats pretty neat. Welp, enjoy your PC I suppose. I'm sure you've found them very slow and want to hit it on the daily like I want to

It's not a thing that we've rolled out nor plan to roll out. I wouldn't have a clue on how to manage it. I assume you'd manage it though GP though.

Reading this again, it's just clicked.

You can roll back your registry via a restore point which will remove the Syskey lock or you can go into C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack copy everything out of there, go back a directory to: C:\Windows\System32\config\ and paste the contents in there, overwrite these files. Reboot the machine and the Syskey should disappear

Will it effect anything else?

Well that comment I made, I would use that as last option if none of the others work. Changing stuff within Sys32 can obviously cause issues however, no, this shouldn't cause any issues with anything dude.
