Have you heard of the recent Facebook scandal? Facebook "sold" YOUR DATA to marketers and third party companies so they could track your interests, manipulate your political views, and influence your decisions to buy products, THIS IS A HUGE INDUSTRY and it's no surprise it has effected the gaming industry. I mean just look at modern day DLC, supply drops, and cosmetic additives in games such as Fortnite, CoD,and Destiny. This is the world we live in.

I made a short video discussing this issue. Check it out if you're interested! What do you think about this new era of marketing?

Yeah! Most of the video games created by big developers are set-up based off of an evolutionary reward system that manipulates you to keep playing. Trace amounts of Dopamine and Serotonin are released in the brain to get you addicted and hooked like a drug. I recommend checking out the Cambridge Analytica Scandal. It's running rampant of the news right now!

Maybe you are manipulating me to stop buying games made by companies who manipulate me.

The plot thickens.

Video games are a hobby. Not an addiction. I play games when I have time to and I feel like it. Not because I'm being brainwashed to play.

Everyone has freewill (arguably of course depending upon the definition, modern science points to not as much as you think). The point I'm trying to make is that these big companies have the ability to employ psychologists, marketers, and anthropologists to implement in-game incentives that *CAN* make you "addicted" to any game they see fit. Just because you don't get severely addicted to a stimulus doesn't mean others can't.
