You should run an ethernet cable to your console.
If not possible, buy ethernet powerline adapters for the best speeds.

Switch up the NanD on the router , then start monitoring the devices you connect as well

A lot of different objects can interfere with the WiFi signal such as other electronic devices, walls and fish tanks for example. Do you use 2.4G or 5G. 2.4G is better for WiFi coverage whilst 5G offers faster wireless speeds. You might benefit from a powerline adapter.

Go to your ISP Default Gateway & mess around with the wifi channels until you're happy with the results. It recommends channels 1,6, & 11 for consistency in connection but in my experience the other channels have worked out better for me. & You can also try port forwarding. Actually you SHOULD try port forwarding. You can also try resetting your connection altogether by unplugging your modem & also resetting it from the Default Gateway.

Buy powerline adapters. Plug both into main sockets for near enough full speed.

You won't regret it. Trust me.

Throw the router out the window.

I'm kidding, use an Ethernet cord.

What does any of that even mean? Hahaha. Changing the channel, good idea to avoid interference however wouldn't improve a single PS4. What is he going to port forward? Do you even know what that means?

Wifi repeater is the most logical thing to do here as suggested by 50,000 other people. Ethernet lead from router to PS4 is by far the best option with Wifi repeater coming 2nd.

On a mobile download a wifi analyzer, it'll check and see which routers and hubs in your area are on which channels. Change you default wireless channels from automatic (1,6 and 11) to manual if your on 2G and do a speed test. Once you have the best speeds, set a static I.P address for the console then port forward whatever games you play and the default ones for the PS4 in the settings. You can get them from portforward.com.

I used to work Tech Support for an ISP in the U,K, two of them actually, so I know the best troubleshooting for wireless when it comes to BT and Virgin Media.

As per port forwarding, some games require some ports which are closed, so it's ideal to open them for the console and the specific games to ensure he gets the best possible gaming experience. Me personally I have my console in the DMZ so that all ports are open regardless. Not recommended by any ISP due to the vulnerability in it but nonetheless, it gives the best experience.

OP you may want to make sure that your upstream and downstream are stable depending who your with (ISP) and the SNR through the cable to the router/hub as well. Check for any drops on the network in general ensuring the issue is not something else and directly 100% wireless related.

Changing the channel can help PS4 since it will lessen wireless interference and so more packets will actually reach the console, portforwarding will help because traffic can be automatically sent straight to the console before any other devices connected making in game speeds quicker and more reliable too.

i have a feeling you dont know what you are talking about...
