Never had the S model, but my first car was an Audi A4 Quatro '03, honestly i miss that car so much.

But down the road I had a ton of engine issues that I couldn't do anything about, the tiptronics were fried, eventually the engine was starting to sound like a diesel big rig and so on. It's worth the money, but make sure you find a great mechanic you can trust is my best advice.

yes I do have a good Euro mechanic near my house and I'm being very cautious in this purchase as far as maintence with the car and overall condition of the car, I want to make sure that I am being a very well maintained s4 so I can keep it in good health. I understand maintenance will be pricey but I believe that it will be worth it with this car. Yeah I've been looking at the a4 as well even because they come turbo charged as well and just upgrading it with a bigger turbo and all that but it will probably be more cost efficient to just go with the s4

Well you can't go wrong with either model, obviously I'd say go with the S4 if the vehicles are comparable as far as price goes (which usually they aren't). But as long as you stick with a lower mile model they're great vehicles. Plan on doing anything specifically to the vehicle? I didn't mess with mine a ton, had a 1.8t and all I realy did was cosmetics. Dark tints and blacked out rims, and upgraded to a new touch screen radio since it was such an old model. On the bright side of things replacing that was relatively easy

i don't plan on doing anything major as far as performance because I want to daily drive this car and I know for a fact that if you don't have a really good setup or done by someone who doesn't know what they're doing it'll make the car very very unreliable and temperamental. I want to grab a pair of BBS wheels for sure some window tints and probably just a straight pipe. I may do some other upgrades depending on the condition. I have my eyes set on this imola yellow s4 a couple hours from me, hopefully it's as good as it looks

Did you end up getting an S4? My dad owned a Nogaro blue B5 S4 for a few years. It had literally zero issues besides a coolant leak right before he sold it.

My brother has a B5 A4 which is easier to work on for sure but no where near as quick. Also a friend of mine recently picked up a B5 S4 in silver.

From my experience they've had minor to no issues. But I've also read the horror stories.

I have a b5 A4 avant and ill be honest, stick with a a4 and big turbo it, the s4 is a nightmare to work on, unless you plan on having a shop do it I would stay away...
my friend just swapped a 2.7t into his b6, and he knows he wont be able to really work on it easily but enjoys the motor
