Hi, almost a pointless thread due to me probably buying the black and decker 20v cordless drill cause it's cheap a'f..

But, I'm looking for a cordless drill that's better then my harbour freight drill lol.
I'll need it in three weeks to put .. 8 screws in... lol.. I'll use it more in the future I due have corded drills tho that do the job wonderfully..

Point of thread.. what cordless drills have you used.. more recent builds the better..

One's I'm looking at

https://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-2606-22CT-M18-Drill-Driver/dp/B00GLEWR96/ref=sr_1_3?s=power-hand-tools&ie=UTF8&qid=1528165419&sr=1-3&keywords=milwaukee+drill

vvvvv I am really leaning towards this one vvvvv
https://www.amazon.com/Dewalt-DCD771C2-Cordless-Lithium-Ion-Compact/dp/B00ET5VMTU/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1528165292&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=dewalt+drill

And then the B&D If you havent seen it.. cheeaaap a'f so like I said.. Ill probably go with this one.. but is it complete garbage?
https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-LDX120C-Lithium-Driver/dp/B005NNF0YU/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1528165857&sr=1-1&keywords=black+and+decker+drill

I've never owned a expensive name brand drill before so the dewalt or milwaukee would be a nice upgrade.. but might not be worth it for me.. not sure..

Just looking for opinions and tips.. other brands? Thier are cheaaaap 20v on amazon but I'm sure their not good obviously... but they are all chinese right? or nah lol..

Thanks..

If it's a one and done type of thing, go with the B&D

As a carpenter who uses a drill on a daily basis, out of that list I would go with the Milwuakee however I only use Makita. Milwuakee has the most versatile tool base but to me I like the feel of the Makita better, and Makita has the fastest charging longest lasting batteries.

Dewalt is one hell of a drill, however it's also a dinosaur. It takes forever to charge and it's HEAVY when you're using it on a daily basis. Also the one you linked is a 20V which is pretty much never needed. I've sunk 3/4" lag bolts (probably more than 50 of them) with an 18V Impact.

For the price of that Milwuakee, you can get a drill and impact drill set from Makita. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is the best thing you can get. Use the drill to drill your holes and the impact to run your screws. You can go to Home Depot and buy the same kit at the same price. The light is a good light but is honestly useless.

Also [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] is the better deal on the Milwaukee, you're paying a BUNCH of money for that case when you can get an extra tool.

You will not be disappointed in the Milwaukee, Makita, or Dewalt. Like I said Dewalt is heavy AF, the Makita has the better batteries, but Milwaukee has the widest range of tools the batteries will work in.

The Black and Decker is a great personal drill, hell we actually use one at the shop that's been going good for a year. You can tell it's a lot cheaper and doesn't perform as good as our Makita set, however it still does everything we ask it to. The Makita and the Milwaukee are the ultimate investment in your career though if you will use these later on in life.

And one more thing, take a look on Craigslist. When I first became a carpenter over 2 years ago I couldn't afford this stuff, however if you walk onto a job site with cheap tools no one will take you seriously. I picked up a 18V Makita drill and impact for like $50 off Craigslist that I've used in the rain to build decks, and it is still used almost every day.

If you aren't going to use it much then there really isn't any reason to buy an expensive brand. But I live by dewalt cordless drills. Never used a Milwaukee cordless drill, bur have plenty of their other tools and love them as well. Can't go wrong with either one

You convinced me. Lol. We have some makitas at work. I don't do anything rough with them but put small 1/4 inch screws in some holes in metal (super simple stuff) but it feels good in my hand and the power feels good.. I found that duo set on amazon for the same price and I'll get 60$ off if I use amazon so I'll get it for close to 100$. I'll use these drills for anything and everything in the future.. as long as they last.. maybe I'll look up a care video or something to make sure they can last as long as possible..

You definitely won't be disappointed! I don't really look after my drills, I never maintenance them, never clean them, just dry them off and throw them in the bag lol. 2 years later still working like a champ!

Dewalt makes a good drill, they are just heavy and take a while to charge.
