Extreme Road Trip 2
Platform: IPhone, IPod, IPad, Android
Genre: Arcade
Release Date: November 1, 2012
Developer: Roofdog Games
Publisher: Roofdog Games
Synopsis
Your gas pedal is stuck AGAIN! Do stunts to get nitro boost and SLAM it all down to unlock the insane speed of OVERDRIVE! Collect coins to unlock new cars as you play! Complete missions and get rewards!
Gameplay
Road Trip 2 is a side view angle of a vehicle that you will have to control but the weird thing is you will only be controlling the tilt of the vehicle while the game takes over the gas for you. At the start of the game you will start out with $0 and some shitty car that you will have to upgrade throughout the game. By upgrading you will have to collect coins that are scattered in the game as you race the time in the game. There is actually no time limit you are beating against but its actually your gas. There is a gas bar showing you how much gas you have left in your car and can be filled by running over barrels of gas that will refill a portion of your meter allowing you to get further and collect more coins. Hopefully everyone has played Hill Climber, it's the exact same thing but just better. You will be measured in meters by how far you go on each run you do and some vehicles can be unlocked if you reach a certain destination. From my counting there are over 70 vehicles that you can buy or achieve by completing challenges and buying them off the marketplace. Each vehicle has its own looks and different specs to them. During your run in a stage you can do tricks and if completed well you will receive a nitrous boost making your car go insanely fast reaching farther limits. There is a leaderboards in this game and you can compete against friends ghosts but you cannot actually play against a live player.
Graphics
For a 2D game this is alright. I wouldn't say the graphics are the best but it is still amazing. You'll have 11 different stages that you can see with all different backgrounds and foreground events. Throughout the stages you will come across many noticeable things such as road signs or boxes that are actually breakable and will slow you down. There are also other objects in the foreground that may seem intractable such as bushes that you cannot can actually hit and will not effect your gameplay. There is actually a lot of image effects going in the background if you actually focus on that. I also like how each stage is structured around one thing for example if the stage was based around a desert, the ground will have a sandy like look with a huge detailed desert in the background. Since there are 70+ vehicles in the game I will have to talk about them. There are some vehicles in the game that look a lot better than others by the detail on them with more features. Some may just have windows and a paint job where some may have spoilers and amazing paint design on the side. There is also a sick turbo effect when you receive it where huge flames just fly out the back of your car making it look so cool. There are also small effects in the game that many don't notice like when you break a crate that's randomly on the road, the craft will break into a lot of pieces and have great physics launching in the direction you are.
(All images are from the play store and are exactly what the game looks like)
Controls
Easiest controls you can ever use. You will have to press the bottom corners of your device that will tilt your vehicle either way. You're trying to of course keep your vehicle on its wheels but it may get hard because there are many ramps in stages making your vehicle do back flips and just go crazy so you may be pressing the buttons a lot. The games controls would be a lot harder if you actually had to press a button for gas and brake but its automatic. There are no settings for the controls anywhere in the settings but there is a small tutorial when you first install the game.

This game is super and I'd recommend it to anyone who can get it. Fun, addictive, competitive And simple.
Most importantly it is a game in which you develop and improve your skill at, rather than try and battle against increasingly challenging levels of difficulty.
