Hi, so I was playing Project Darwin (or Darwin Project) and my pc shut down with no warning while in the lobby then about halfway through a game. The gaming is smooth and no "lag" happened, then all of a sudden pc shut down. Everywhere I've seen people say it's the CPU overheating or GPU overheating or the PSU is faulty. On the Graphics card there's 2 fans and they run smoothly. Noisier when in game but I expect that. But CPU is something I can't remember. I have thermal compound and do I just put that on top of the processor?

Also, any other suggestions will be highly appreciated! It's a new machine to me bought off a mate and he said it runs fine so could it possibly be my PSU as my electricity supply from the mains differ to his? Or is that really stupid and doesn't matter haha.

Any help at all will be fantastic!

check your event log (just look it up) and look for system critical errors.

Thanks for that! I will look it up when I'm back on it. Will it tell me where the problem is coming from?

it will be a good starting point to look for. The errors are usually documented or answered by people to a good extent.

This is what it says in details

"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

My guess is RAM failure...

Nah, its more likely my PSU but my CPU is showing 90c temp when i just booted up...

I suggest looking at your temps when you play games. If it's actully 90c like you said it is an overheating issue and are probably gonna need a new CPU cooler or thermal compound.

I've had a dying PSU before and this is what happened to me but the cpu temp leads me to believe that is the issue.

90c CPU at idle is definitely your issue lmfao.

My PC also had this issue on a brand new PSU that was platinum rated from EVGA. Couldn't believe my luck.

Also had this issue with my friends PC. Troubleshooted it over the web and found it to be the PSU.

As Potion said, check temps, make sure they are in check, I use [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] since you can log it whilst in game and check back if your pc has crashed.
